Coin Flip
3D heads-or-tails coin. Simple, fast, mobile-friendly.
Updated 16 July 20263 min read
Coin Flip is the simplest of our reveal mechanics. The customer sees a 3D coin spin on a Framer Motion axis; it lands on the result the backend already decided. Fast, mobile-friendly, fits well with one-shot ticket purchases.
How it’s wired
- 3D CSS transform on the coin face. No canvas required.
- Spin duration ≈ 1.6 seconds — long enough for anticipation, short enough not to bore.
- Heads/tails mapping to win/no-win is server-decided. The coin just animates to the predetermined face.
When to use it
- Quick-purchase competitions where a customer buys 1–3 tickets. The animation feels rewarding without dragging.
- Brand mood: classic, sports, retro casino. Less “modern gaming” than scratch or plinko.
Enabling it
Currently activated by setting the competition type to coin at creation. Some operators reserve coin flip for a specific category (e.g. instant-wins under £25). Mix and match by competition.
Don’t over-use it
Customers who buy 30 tickets and have to watch 30 coin flips churn. Beyond ~10 tickets in a single order, use Instant Reveal instead (all results appear together with a confetti burst).
