Managing Affiliate Referrals

The leaderboard, activity log, and how to suspend or ban abusive referrers. Patterns that justify investigation.

Once your affiliate scheme is live and customers start sharing, the operator side of the work is monitoring activity, paying out the rewards, and disabling abusive participants. This page covers the admin views.

The referrer leaderboard

Open Admin → Marketing → Affiliates → Leaderboard. Sortable table of every customer who has at least one attributed referral, with columns: name, referrals (count), paid orders attributed, total rewards earned, last referral date.

Top of the list is who to look after. Anyone earning more than your monthly cap is auto-throttled by the system; surface candidates here for a 1:1 partner conversation.

The activity log

Every attribution event lives in the activity log: Admin → Marketing → Affiliates → Activity. Filterable by date / referrer / referee. Use it to debug “why didn’t my reward fire?” questions.

Disabling an abusive referrer

Suspect circular referrals, fake accounts, or pattern abuse?

Find the referrer in the leaderboard.
Open their profile → Affiliate Scheme tab.
Toggle Suspendedon. Their link continues to work for landing pages, but no new rewards accrue. Existing earned credit isn’t clawed back.
Add a reason to the internal notes field (visible to your team, not the customer).

For confirmed fraud (cards charging back, fake addresses), use the Ban action: this both suspends the affiliate link and blocks future orders from that customer.

Patterns that justify investigation

5+ referrals in a 24-hour window from a single referrer with the same payment-card hash on the referees.
Referee orders that consistently sit at the £5 attribution threshold and are followed by a refund request.
Referees with disposable-email domains (10minutemail, etc.).
Same IP block across many referees.

We surface these patterns automatically as warnings in the Activity log. Review them weekly.

Paying out earnings

Rewards are always credited to the referrer’s wallet as site credit. There’s no separate “affiliate payouts” workflow; it’s the same wallet flow customers use for instant-win credit. See Customer Withdrawals.
